Sustainability NZ

Certification

As organisations look to reduce the impact their activities have on their people, local communities and the environment, potential customers are starting to look more and more to make ethical choices in their purchases of goods and services.

Businesses often promote claims about the steps they have taken to reduce their negative impacts and to actively promote fair, ethical and sustainable practices but without an external review of their working practices it can be hard for potential customers to tell whether such claims are genuine.

Our certification works as a reward for organisations which have taken the necessary steps to improve their systems, processes and business decisions. Individual certifications are awarded for the following categories:

  • Employment Responsibility – to ensure the wellbeing of employees is being taken care of
  • Social Responsibility – to ensure business activities do not harm and/or actively support local communities
  • Environmental Responsibility – to mitigate any harm to the environment and to promote sustainable business practices
Upon successfully meeting the requirements for the above certifications, qualifying organisations are eligible for the Sustainability Certification. Upon being awarded any or all of the Certifications, qualifying organisations may display the Trademarked Certifications on websites and company email signatures for a period not exceeding two calendar years. At the end of the certification period, organisations may apply for recertification.
